Five Short Blasts explores the often overlooked marine and port culture of Melbourne.

Created by sound artists Madeleine Flynn and Tim Humphrey, it involves the experience of being a flotilla of small boats rigged up with sound receivers picking up the sounds and stories of those who live and work around the city waterways. The manifest book was distributed to participants to record and inform their experience. Tickets sold out in a matter of days. The project has since been toured to the United Kingdom and Germany.
